2017 Gill Fireball Victorian (Australia) State Championships

20 March 2017

Congratulations to our "old" Gill Victorian State Champions - Heather Macfarlane and Chris Payne have won it again. The conditions were light - so light that the money was on no racing for Sunday. But a nice NE came in and with good race management led but John Garner, all 4 races were run, in some great if not tricky conditions.  Lloyd Collings and Jack Lidgett who hadn't sailed together for almost 12 months took it all the way and showed good speed and skill to go very close. Brendan Garner and Peter Durran who did an amazing job pulling the regatta all together, including organising pizza and beer for the Saturday night, finished a credible 3rd with slight weight disadvantage over the front two. Phil Peverell and Bruce Shand also showed good speed and skill to be a v. close 4th. Full results can be found here http://www.rgyc.com.au/resul…/bravo1617/fireballs/SGrp34.htm.
