Frostbite 2 Ireland

Frostbite 2 Ireland

14 November 2013

Twelve Fireballs, up 50% from last week’s entry, were part of a record 78-boat fleet for the 2nd round of the 2013/14 Frostbite Series in Dun Laoghaire. An E-mailed survey during the week canvassed opinion from the entrants on possible changes to the format of the racing and two changes were implemented yesterday – the RS fleet had their own start and we had a four-lap trapezoid course – trapezoid in shape only rather than in terms of mark-roundings. Port Festival Regatta 2013

Port Festival Regatta 2013

22 October 2013

The South Australian Port Festival Regatta was a great success. We had 15 fireballs competing on the Port River in front of the Birkenhead Tavern. Racing was close and the course area tight leaving little room for error. The wind conditions were variable in both strength and direction making it an extremely challenging experience for both competitors and the race committee. There were 3 races in the morning with a break to the pub for lunch followed by a further 3 races in the afternoon. The results were: 1st overall Greg Allison/Allen Blenkle 1st junior Jalina Thompson-Kambas/Patrick Alm 1st on handicap Dave Godden/Ryan McCallister Our first Screwball winner for the season was Brett Littledike for dislocating his thumb while taking off his wetsuit shorts!! We thank the race committee and the Port Adelaide Sailing Club for their fantastic efforts in organising a great day for us to kick off the new season. It was a worthwhile event to showoff sailing and in particular Fireball sailing to the general public. We hope we can do it again next year! Read More >
