Adelaide SC Club Heat One

Club Championship Race 1 (sloppy 8-15 knots SW-SSW) For the second week in a row the fleet was a little too eager to get away.  After a general recall the PRO decided to play hard ball and put up the black flag. 

Nathan Stockley/David Kemp jumped away from the pin at the 2nd start and had a nice lead for the first loop followed by Peter Allison/Ian Nadebaum with Lauren Thredgold/Bethany Fawcett in 3rd. 

At the top mark for the second time Nathan/Dave still had the lead from Pete/Ian but the breeze had shifted left resulting in a very tight reach. Nathan/Dave and Pete/Ian were caught low with the kite up and by the time they dropped it they had been passed by Robin Inns (sailing with guest super crew Sam Muirhead) and Tom Gordon/Jack Fletcher, who had both two sailed the reach. 

With only the final loop to go these two boats kept the lead with Lauren/Beth moving into 3rd.

Good sports award of the day goes to Andy & Pete Crossley who retired from the race to assist a mosquito cat with major gear failure
