Great Gift to Petr´s 50 birthday

Czech Nationals - Nove Mlyny, 27^th - 30^th September

Most of the time  there was no wind so only four races were sailed during Czech Nationals this year. 36 Czech boats met on the start.

Thursday morning when measurement and entries were running there was very windy. For the first start at midday there still some wind (about 18 knots) left but step by step it dropped. So second race was started in 8 knots and after that the wind died completely. Petr Koran/Milan Kvasnik had a great day and scored 1,1. Martin Kubovy/Roman Rocek were in second with 2,2 and Jiri Cechura/Jan Will third with 4,3.

Wind conditions were practically the same on Friday morning when third race was windier and fourth was sailed in very soft and shifty wind and had to be shortened. Milan Cap/Filip Prochazka came up to third overall scoring 1,2. The same score wasn´t enough for Kubovy/Rocek they tied with Koran/Kvasnik (scoring 3,6) but they still were second overall (after 4 races one was excluded).

On Saturday all boats stood ashore - no wind - so everybody has plenty of power for night party with meat, beer, wine and life music. During Championship Czech Fireball annual meeting with elections was held. Because Martin Kubovy wants to sail only a few Fireball races next year we were looking for a new president. Jakub Napravnik was elect new Czech Fireball president, Jan Jedlicka is new secretary, Slavek Vomacko is treasurer and Petr Koran is coach.

On Sunday morning we did only several start attempts but no race was completed. Nationals were done. Peter will be 50 next week so national title is great gift for him! Well done!
