Adelaide, Largs & Port River Wrap up
16 November 2012
Largs Bay 10 November 2012
A perfect Adelaide
afternoon played host to the second Club Championship race of the
Largs
Bay SCseason. The breeze was
moderate and the sun
was shining. Perfect! The race got underway with Magic Moose
port-tacking the 6-boat Fireball fleet to take
an early lead to the
first mark, with Mini Mee chasing hard down the two reaches to be
right on their heels. The two leaders traded
blows up the beat, with
Mini Mee eventually taking t...
he lead and pulling away slightly.
However, the boys in Magic Moose caught up with some hard work on
the run and the race was
all but square again. In the
freshening breeze though, Mini Mee pulled ahead to take a safe
victory and a two-point lead in the
- with Largs Bay SC at Largs Bay Sailing
Club.

The race started in marginal trapezing conditions and built
gradually to around 12 knots at the finish.
Racing was tight for the first lap but spread out as things went
on. Robin and Joel had an easy win, aided by silly business on
the second reach of the triangle by Greg, Nathan and
Tom.
It was good to see Nick Fewster sailing with Brett in
'Renegade'. These guys will be competing at the nationals
together.
Port River 10 November 2012
Only two Fireballs made it to the start line this week. Jim
Hughes and Heath Belton had a win in front of Brian Conway and
Jayne
Rbbinson.
Largs Bay 3 November 2012
Largs Bay Sailing
Club Report Saturday 3/11/12. Only four Fireballs fronted for a
very slow race at Largs Bay on Saturday 3rd
November. The breeze
was fairly consistent from the South West but only 5-10 knots. A
one nautical mile beat was set which took
the best part of two
hours to complete a triangle and loop before the RO shortened the
course at the leeward mark. First home with
a convincing ...
lead was Matt and Matt in Mini Mee.
Tom and Madi in Young Guns had a good day out in second place and
handicap winner for the
day. Third of the light weights was
Invictus sailed by James and Nick. Then The Mistress with Jim and
Daniel blaming extra ballast on
board rounded up the fleet. Next
week is our second club championship race. The Arnold brothers are
hoping for another light one
to even up the score with the
Matt's. Meanwhile Daryl and Damien are expecting to excel later in
the season as their two drops will
be used while Damien's work
commitments have taken over.

The fleet arrived at the club to a
dying breeze. As start time approached the day looked perfect
if you were Swiss but for the
Adelaide boys the prospect of being
crouched in the bottom of the boat didn't seem very appealing. The
decision was made to
relocate the race course to the bar
where beers were consumed by all and the result declared a happy
tie.
Port River 3 November 2012
Three boats were out on the river
this week. Jim Hughes and Heath Belton had a win with Dave Godden
and Luke Unasch in second.
Brian Conway and Jayne Robertson
brought the fleet home in third.
