South African Port Owen River Race

A great weekend of fireball sailing was enjoyed this past Saturday and Sunday at Port Owen River Race.
Three boats participated, namely Sean Van Rensburg and Carrie Nicholl and Kirsten Veenstra and Jeremy Foreman and me and Janine.
This race is always a fun one with fantastic West Coast hospitality and interesting sailing in the river with sand banks and tidal current making tactics tricky.
The River race on Saturday was
exceptionally close. The three Fireballs each had a chance to lead
on the tricky 12 KM course and all finishing within 30
Seconds!
On the Sunday there was the one race up the river, out the mouth into the sea and back again.
Conditions for both days were perfect providing some great racing.
