2014 Fireball Nationals at Tenby Sailing Club  

16th - 22nd August

 

2014 sees the Fireball Class visit Tenby Sailing Club on the Beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast. Tenby is a fantastic championship sailing and holiday venue with something for everyone. Hosting a national championship each year for 40 years the club is experienced at delivery top quality racing. Tenby offers sheltered launching and a short sail to the race area.

Racing will be over a 10 race series, using line and/or gate starts. 2 races a day are scheduled with a reserve day on the Wednesday. Races are generally around 1 hour in length. Time on the water varies, typically 3 to 4 hours. The course tends to be a triangle, sausage, triangle course with the first reach of the triangle tighter and the second reach broader. The finish is typically at the leeward mark or half way up the final beat. 

On the water everyone races as one fleet. Off the water results are divided into Gold, Silver and Bronze Fleets so that everyone has something to race for. In addition there are category prizes for Classic Fireballs, Youth sailors, Lady Helm & Lady Crew and much more. Plus there are individual race trophies for the ten races. Plus if you see something stupid happen during the week make sure you remember to let one of the yellow jersey team know, a special award awaits the winner each night as part of the daily prize giving.

The Clubhouse, with bar and catering, changing rooms, showers, storage, meeting room, is in the middle of the picturesque harbour surrounded by the slipways, dinghy parks, beaches, accommodation, restaurants, pubs and town.

Families and supporters will find they can be in the middle of the action just by going to the harbour beach or viewing the action from Castle Hill or relaxing on the Club balcony overlooking the harbour and launching area.
