VENUE DESCRIPTION

The ideal place to enjoy an active holiday or to relax between the lake and the mountains A mild climate, the attractive Mediterranean environment that frames the lake, and the stunning beauty of the mountain backdrop are the key features of the Upper Garda Lake.

The dominant force here is the wind capable of stirring up great emotions. Swept by a superb breeze (known as the ‘Ora') the Trentino part of Lake Garda has become immensely popular with sailing and windsurfing enthusiasts. With a marina and some very fine yachting & sailing clubs it's an ideal venue for international regattas and competitions. The lake also attracts canoeists and scuba-divers, while the bathing beaches that line the shore and the cruise and ferry services that criss-cross the water offer a relaxing alternative.

Those looking for an active holiday can find more opportunities in the interior, with trekking and mountain bike routes, and the Upper Garda area is also one of the preferred destinations for free-climbing lovers, the steep mountain walls overhanging the lake making for a spectacular practice range.

ARCO

Arco is a beautiful little and well- known town with cosy bars, restaurants and a lot of shops. The town is between the mountains and at the foot of the little dolomites. Arco is a “Home” for a lot of professional sportsmen.

Famous destination for relax and spa cures and also the world climbing capital and venue for world class competitions like World Rock Master.

Arco has a dual personality, and you can have a quiet relaxing stay surrounded by a wide range of outdoor sports, including biking, climbing, sailing and windsurfing.

Circolo Vela Arco is open all year long with many activities during summer and winter

(summer sailing courses with every year about 250 children, winter training sessions).

The club has about 320 members with totally 50 catamarans, 5 Contenders, 5 Moth, 6 49er, 8 29er, 45 Ilca, 5 J24, 10 Waszps.

DESCRIPTION OF THE SAILING CONDITIONS

• July and August average temperature: min 18° max 30°

• Average water temperature: 23°

• Prevailing winds:

  ORA: a breeze that comes in front the South around midday and dies during the night. Wind speed 14-18 knots.
  PELER: a breeze that comes in from the North after midnight and dies around midday. Wind speed 10-20 knots.

• Average tide: 80 cm maximum.

• Current: maximum 0,5 knots.

• The course will be a short 15/20 minutes sail from the organizing Club, allowing for necessary support services to be made available in close proximity of the course location.

  ALL THE REGATTAS ARE ORGANIZED WITH ELECTRIC MOTORIZED BUOYS

Arco is near (20 minutes from the exit rovereto sud) the highway AUTOSTRADA n°22 which goes from bolzano to modena.
The club is little less than one hour away from the International Verona Airport www.aeroportoverona.it (arrival tows either VERONA (Catullo Airport) or about 1,5 hour away from BRESCIA (Montichiari D’annunzio Airport)

Both Airports are served by low cost companies). A shuttle bus services will be provided from both destinations.

MEDIA

A particular attention will be given to the Media Coverage. The press officer will work in close cooperation with National and International televisions, websites and magazines providing them with daily press releases and footage. Journalists and photographers coming to the event will be provided with support boat to follow the races and press room with access to

the web. A service of live race will be available on the Championship website.

EXCURSIONS

During the championship we organize

• -  trips of cultural or touristic interest in the area

• -  culinary tourism at refuges, wineries and /or cheese farms/producers

ACCOMMODATION

There are number 2 well-equipped camping-sites adjacent to the club at agreed prices with the possibility of booking (capacity of 400 places).
Affiliated hotels for every requirement near Circolo Vela Arco.
Youth Hostel at 1,5 km from the club with the availability of public transport.

OPENING & CLOSING CEREMONY

Buffet at the opening ceremony and at the prize giving. “Pasta party” at the end of the day after the races. Dinner with music at the tent.

PRIZES & GADGETS

According to the International Class will be provided prizes for the winners of each category. A gift will be given to the competitors, usually is a t-shirt.

PRESS, PHOTO & VIDEO COVERAGE

We collaborate since years with the usual company “Emilio Santinelli” for photo shooting of the event and the production of a video clip. Press is under surveyed by Elena Giolai.
Everything will be free available for the competitors.
